Rebecca Kowalski began her landscape journey in 2010, working alongside her mentor Terry Wolfel and the Martinsen family at Litchfield Horticulture Center. As part of the nursery and garden maintenance crew, she cared for some of the most distinguished properties in Litchfield County — an experience that sparked a deep and lasting fascination with the beauty and complexity of landscape gardens. She immersed herself in self-study, began taking on her own gardening clients, and earned her UConn Master Gardener Certificate in 2019.
Her path naturally expanded into flower farming at Anderson Acres Farm in South Kent, where over four seasons she learned to sustainably grow specialty cut flowers and produce. As her interest in floral design deepened, Rebecca began freelancing with Sarah Worden Natural Design, a luxury floral design studio in Litchfield, where she continues to freelance today. She also takes on select floral design events, grows cut flowers for design work, and shares seasonal blooms locally through the Cornwall Hollow Farm Stand.
In 2023, Rebecca joined the team at The Litchfield Inn, caring for indoor plants while maintaining and expanding the surrounding landscape. She is currently working toward her Advanced Horticulture Certificate through the Berkshire Botanical Garden.
With over a decade of experience serving her own client base, tending properties across Litchfield County, and designing and installing both private and public gardens, Rebecca is increasingly focused on mentorship — welcoming interns and sharing knowledge within the landscape gardening trade as she continues her own exploration of the garden world.
Rebecca works at the intersection of seasonality, organic form, and natural design. Through live floral artistry, careful seasonal studies, and thoughtful select collaborations, her work gently explores the quiet intelligence of plants and how they relate to us within our own everyday spaces.
When she’s not working, she can be found in her own gardens and flower field, or at home with her husband, three dogs, and family.
